Group Lessons & Events

Queen City Mahjong offers a variety of classes to accommodate your skill level and your Mahjong interests. Whether just learning to play or sharpening your skills, we have opportunities to support you.

Perfect starting point for beginners. A 4 hour session to dive in to all things Mahjong in a casual fun environment. Hands-on guidance during games after classroom instruction. Includes National Mah Jongg League card & other course materials.
Play while QCM instructors are on-hand to assist players. A great way to maintain your skills! 2 Hours
You have learned to play but want to re-visit the rules. Includes Open Play. 2 Hours
Best for players who know the rules, but are looking to advance their skills. Strategies may include: picking hands, Charleston tips, discards, dead hands, etc. 2 Hours
Listen to an analysis of the new National Mah Jongg League card that players receive each year in April. A breakdown of statistics, strategies and tips to improve your game with it. Includes Open Play. 2 Hour
We are always adding one-time events so be on the lookout! Mahjong-a-thons, Mahjong tournaments, fun play days, in-store events, etc.

Grab your people and let’s Mahjong! Queen City Mahjong will come to you to teach the rules and strategies in fun and engaging lessons. Handy book and reference card included.

You may be wondering...

We suggest 4 hours of instruction and playing for the best learning experience - 2 lessons, 2 hours each. If you can’t get your Mahjong group together twice (we get it!), you can learn in one 3-hour more intensive lesson.
The more the merrier to learn! Keep in mind that 4 people play the game at a table, but for lessons players may “team up” to accommodate everyone in the space.
Invite your friends and provide some light snacks and drinks if you would like, but it’s not necessary. We will discuss the tables that you have at the lesson site. We can bring tables if needed but any kitchen or dining table can usually work. Can be day or evening.
Yes! QCM provides an easy-to-read book included with most lessons and a reference card to use when playing the game even after you learn.

No! We bring all the game equipment for classes and socials.
For larger groups, we will provide more than one instructor. Usually one instructor for every two tables (8 people).
The cost is per person per lesson.
Groups up to 6 people:
each 2 hour lesson: $60
3 hour lesson: $100
Groups of 7 or more:
each 2 hour lesson $50
3 hour lesson: $85
Of course! We will meet your Mahjong needs. Any of our classes can be taught in a Mahjong Social, or we will customize a lesson for you.
